The design for the Garten collection was discovered in the archives of Gebrüder Thonet Vienna, a company famous for its bentwood furniture. The Gartenbank and matching table and chair were an innovation of the late 19th century in a move towards a more natural and contemporary look. The bench is made from acacia wood and can be left outside permanently if treated periodically with teak oil.
