This striking design is produced by Wonkiware, founded by Di Marshall in 1999 and based in a small studio in George, on the southern coast of Africa. Made from clay that has been carefully sourced to produce strong, non-porous stoneware, each piece is shaped by hand by local craftsmen. After being left to dry in the sun for five days, the pieces are fired, decorated, then fired again, resulting in a beautiful and unusual, yet practical and hard-wearing piece of china. A matching side plate and server are also available.
