The Family of Mr. Chin range is the result of a collaboration between Alessi and the National Palace Museum of Taiwan, which wanted to encourage greater awareness of Chinese history and culture in the West. Unlike Stefano Giovannoni’s earlier designs, which were cast in a single piece, these are made in separate moulds and assembled like dolls. Made from thermoplastic resin, their clothes are hand-decorated. King Chin has a ceramic grinding mechanism and can be used to grind salt, pepper or spices.
