This black clay oval dish made by La Camba is perfect from stove to table. Oven, stove and microwave safe traditional cal ware from Columbia. Made from black clay found in Central Colombia near the Magdalena River, archeologists say the region is home of the oldest potter known in the Americas. The clay is polished with river rocks before firing in wood kilns. Small imperfections in the finish and flecks of minerals in the clay are due to this handmade processes and the materials.
Care instructions
Before first use, was the pieces well with hot water to clear off the loose clay and dust. Quick soak and wipe clean with soft sponge in the sink is recommended. The use of a medium flame gives the best resuls and prevents oxidation of the finish. No chemicals are used in teh production of La Chamba products and all items are not glazed.
